First Steps: Connecting with Your Soul Self

Why do I write about connecting with your Soul Self? Because the miracles and magic of Unity Consciousness are available to you and all of humanity through this connection. It’s that simple. We have a choice. We can continue to live through our human ego mind, based in fear. Our human self only knows our past and has built up patterns of thought and behaviour to protect itself from the harshness of the third dimension. Or we can gradually let go of the emotional entanglements, those patterns that keep us stuck here. We can begin to live from the consciousness of our Soul Self. It is based in love, simply love – without limitation, conflict, violence, greed, or any of the other lower frequency emotions.

Our Soul Self knows why we have chosen to be here at this time and has been guiding us on our path, mostly without our conscious awareness. I invite you to become aware of its presence and choose, moment by moment, to align yourself with its wisdom and joy. To experience moments that feel like heaven as the light shines on the darkness within us and we let go. As we become more aware of and allow our Soul Self to guide our choices, we gradually begin to live from its higher perspectives and insights. We can choose to become beacons of light, of the divine presence, in the darkness that fills our world today. To live, more and more, in Unity Consciousness, heaven here on earth.

This connection begins within each of us. It is not something anyone else can do for you or to you. Your Soul Self has been waiting for this moment, the opportunity to be your guide and support on your journey into Unity Consciousness.

Many of you reading this already meditate. Here are a few thoughts about connecting that might be helpful to expand your practice or begin a new one:

–  There is no right or wrong way to do this. Letting go of judgment, you will know/feel what practices bypass your mind and open your heart, what lifts you up and makes your heart sing.

– Let go of your doubts and thoughts…simply be willing to be willing to connect with your Soul Self.

– Breathing is the foundation of any moments of connection, of life itself. Your body breathes naturally, and now you can breathe in the divine, your Soul Self, intentionally. Begin by simply focusing on your breath – inhale…exhale, just observe and let go. Breathe deeply into your lower abdomen. Consciously fill your body with divine energy.

– There are many ways to breathe intentionally, and they produce different experiences. Do some research online, feel your way through a few meditation practices, and choose what works for you in that moment. Remember, you are creating your path into Unity Consciousness.

– Breathe without specific expectations – they come from the mind, from the past. Invite the presence of your Soul Self and allow it to show itself exactly as you are able to receive its presence.

– And smile…come to these quiet moments of connection, knowing your Soul Self is ready and waiting to be with you. To bring magic and miracles into your life and expand that divine spark within you.

In my years as a Christian, I was taught how to pray, how to talk with God. There are communal prayers, individual prayers, prayers for specific situations, and outlines of how and what to pray about…yet few taught or emphasized the importance of just being with the divine. I realized that it wasn’t so much talking with God as talking to God. I invite you to experience your Soul Self with less talking, more listening, and just being in its presence.

As I began this chapter of my journey, my mind would say that I didn’t ‘do’ meditation, didn’t know how, was doing it wrong. As I continued on my journey, I learned that some folks meditate for 30 minutes or even an hour! My body wouldn’t sit still for that long, my mind would not focus on anything for that long. There was a very long list of ‘I can’t do…’. As with anything I resist, I learned to begin one step at a time.

I started with five minutes of just breathing and my mind still wanted to tell me I was doing it wrong. This is the perfect time to watch your thoughts, your self talk, without judgment.  Smile at the judgmental thoughts as they come through and shift your focus back to your breath. I know it sounds so simple and yet the old neural pathways, the old patterns, emotions will come up. Welcome these moments as opportunities to step into the Cycle of Expansion, releasing the old and allowing the new to be created.

Meditation is not the only way in which you can be available to your Soul Self. There are many contemplative practices that can shift the patterns of your mind and body, slow your mind and body down enough to connect with the divine. Simply focusing on your breath as you stand in the checkout line at your grocery store can open your heart and calm your mind.

    I enjoy reading these articles very much. I’ve done the breathing exercises for years & I know they help. Keep writing–love you, sister.
